According to canon law

Canon Law (no. 642) sets out the conditions for the recruitment of candidates for consecrated life. He recommends that superiors take care to admit only candidates of the required age and health conditions for the way of life of the Congregation: physical health and psychological health; candidates with the appropriate temperament, qualities and maturity corresponding to their age and not to that which they must potentially have.
