A Great Setback

A Great Setback

After four long years and the preliminary labor of foundation, the young Congregation experienced a great setback. On the night of 22-23 August in the year 1899, Mother Rosalie died a martyr, when one of the young girls sought revenge after being refused acceptance into the Congregation as she was considered unfit for the role. On a night of full moon, informed of all entrances and exits of the small Motherhouse, she entered the ground floor bedroom through an opening in the window and approaching the bed she stabbed Mother Rosalie in the chest. She was aided by two male friends. After half an hour, Mother Rosalie gave up her life, watering the ground of this young Congregation with her blood, giving a true witness and a fertile seed for the mission.
